Mara Fortes

Es investigadora y curadora de Cine y Medios Audiovisuales, doctorada en Cine y Medios Audiovisuales por la Universidad de Chicago. Su trabajo explora la ontología e historia del cine a partir de la idea de proyección, los aspectos inmateriales y metafísicos de la imagen en movimiento, y la relación entre la tecnología y las realidades ocultas. Ha realizado curadurías para diversas instituciones, entre ellas, el Museo Reina Sofía (España), London MexFest (Reino Unido), La otra bienal (Colombia), el Centro de Cultura Digital (donde estuvo a cargo del proyecto audiovisual “Cine más allá”).Actualmente es curadora en el Festival de Telluride (EEUU).

Mara Fortes is a researcher and curator of film and audiovisual art. Her work explores the ontology and history of film through the idea of projection the immaterial and metaphysical aspects of the moving image, and the relationship between technology and occult realities. She has curated shows at Museo Reina Sofía in Spain, London MexFest in the U.K., and La Otra Bienal in Colombia, among others.
